Stop Hiring. Start Systemising.

The default answer for most growing businesses is 'we need another person.' Most of the time, you don't — you need a system.

Every growing business hits the same wall. Revenue is up, the team is stretched, and the default answer is: hire someone.

Most of the time, that's the wrong move. Hiring adds salary, management overhead, onboarding time, and another point of failure. What you actually need is a system — a clear process, automated where possible, owned by one person, measurable from a dashboard.

Before you post the job, ask: can a tool do this? Can a workflow handle it? Can the existing team handle it if the process was clearer? Nine times out of ten, the bottleneck is not headcount. It's structure.

Build the system. If it still needs a person after that, you'll know exactly what to hire for — and they'll walk into a role that actually scales.

What to do next

  • Write down the outcome you need before choosing features.
  • Ask for scope, ownership and ongoing costs in writing.
  • Compare the smallest useful version, not an unlimited wish list.
